This was my first project at BitLoft. The app’s intention is to be a daily reminder that praying together will ensure that Jesus is listening, a reference to Matthew 18:20:
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
I used Expo as the base of the application initially. Later, I ejected out of Expo and continued developing with ExpoKit and native code. The primary reason for ejecting was due to a requirement to have daily notifications that would remind users to open the application and pray together. Firestore serves as the back end of the application. Additionally, the team and I decided to use Google Cloud Functions and Node for geolocation/filtering on the database.
Required features include the following:
- A simple sign-in procedure.
- Daily notifications.
- Ability to share/update prayer requests.
- Ability to fulfill prayers in your area.
One of the biggest selling features of the application is the ability for users to post prayer requests. Prayer requests allow users to interact with one another on an anonymous, yet spiritual level. The intent of the prayer request is to help find strength through community.
